Last week, we had the fun time of meeting the very extended Brown-John family! Those who could make it, came to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Victor and Winnifred Brown-John's arrival into Canada. Trav's uncle Lyle did a great job of putting this all together... he contacted all his various aunties, uncles and cousins to make this happen. The Burnaby Now even did a great write up!

I loved hearing the story of Trav's Great Grandparents who made the trek from Wales over to Canada with two kids in tow. Over the years, their family grew to seven siblings, one of them (Auntie Elsie, below) who is still around today to watch how her family has grown.

There were lots of pictures from the good ol' days, ones of Burnaby which you could hardly recognize it from today, and of course lots of the treasured family photo's with their black and white, sometimes sepia tone. It gives you a true appreciation for holding on to those photo's, as they really are one of a kind. Everyone had to rely on that 'one' shot to get the family photo done, unlike this day and age where we have sometimes up to twenty shots of the same pic!
Anyways, it was a very unique experience and always so much fun hearing about your family, it's history and ancestory. Pretty cool stuff! Makes me want to really document our family tree and see how far back we can go! New project to add to my list to 'eventually do one day' :)

Cool! Heheh, I wasn't sure what you meant when you said 100 year Brown-John reunion last week. I like the idea of genealogy too...Mike's Brown family tree goes all the way back to early 1700s in Scotland. My mom's goes back 23 generations in China, but it's quite hard to trace Chinese family trees because of the language barrier. Unfortunately we can't trace the Tsakok side since my great great grandparents were adopted. :P
