Maui

Aloha! Yes, we're back from yet another vacation... just gotta love these family trips! The main reason was to join the Adamson side for a little family reunion to celebrate Aunty Lorraine's 60th birthday! It was a great week for the girls to hang out with Grammy and Grampy, and then to get to know our other out-of-town relatives including their cousin, Euan.

So here we are with Grammy and Grampy, Lorraine (Janie's sister) and Drew, Barb (Janie's sister) and Jim and Andrea, Gustav and Euan! Fun times as we all stayed in the same condo complex for the week.

We got a lot more rain than we would've preferred, b/c really I think we get enough rain in Vancouver! So, whenever the sun did shine, we definitely tried to take full advantage of it. Nora really loved the ocean and waves this time round. She would run up to the waves, wait and then run away as soon as it neared. Another fun repeat over and over was to dig holes in the sand, stand in it together and then wait for the water to come over our feet. Big thrills!
Lily on the other hand still would not touch the sand. So cute how no matter how close I would get her feet to the sand, the higher and higher her feet would curl up! She much preferred the pool and the hot tub! Sometimes Nora and Lily would banter at each other back and forth... "Ocean... hot tub... ocean... hot tub... ocean... hot tub!"
As a tropical island, there really wasn't too too much for us to do while it was pouring rain! We did venture out on the Whale Watching tour (got totally drenched, but so worth it when we saw a whale fully breach (jump out of the water), they're amazing! No indoor pools or indoor malls or indoor gyms / playgrounds but it was still alot of fun week watching the kids play together. Nora enjoyed playing 'fundominoes' with the aunties and uncles and grandparents and she really got into the game. One of the days, the guys took care of the kids while all the ladies went shopping (so I thoroughly enjoyed that part!).

Vacationing with grandparents also meant that Trav and I got to go on a date night! We chose to go into Lahaina, and ended up at the Lahaina Grill, which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The food was really delicious and what a great evening. We also ended up sitting at the bar (since we didn't really have reservations and lucked out when two people didn't show up for their spot), but it turned out to be a really fun experience. Got chatting with a couple from NY who just raved and raved about the restaurant, and learned a new thing or two about wine and food. Very classy place.

Checking out the whale's skeleton at Whaler's Village (great place for shopping!).

It was super busy for both Trav and I at work leading up to the vacation so it was a real nice treat just to relax, hang out and really enjoy the quality time with the girls. It's also always so special watching them bond and laugh while they get to play with the family. So, Grammy and Grampy... thank you for having us, we had an awesome time!

Nice pictures! Love the haircut too! I'm been totally neglecting our blog too. Maybe with nicer weather and more things to do, it'll pick up.
