A couple of weekends ago, we attended the St. Joseph's parish picnic at Rocky Point. It might've been the only light rainy day we've had this whole September so far, but it didn't stop us from going. They organized a few 'races' for everyone and it was really fun to see our family participate!
I'll let the captions tell the story!
| Nora, our brave 4 year old in the 'Under 11" potato sack race! |
| Up against some big boys! |
| Go Nora Go! |
| Didn't quite win it but such a fun time (plus she enjoyed the candy bag she received for participating!) |
| Next Trav took his turn in the 'Adult' category |
| Didn't hold back, even dove for the photo finish (guy he was trying to beat is right beside him)... 1st place, yea! |
| Next up, our celebrity Kai's in for the Three-legged race... |
| Good effort you guys ;) |
Then lately, we've introduced 'Board Game Night' in our household. It's been really fun, even Lily has been able to play. I love that she has the patience to wait her turn and the ability to understand the game. We've been able to play Bingo and it has totally surprised me that she already knows her letters so she loves that she can fully participate, pick up the letters and read them out / match them up. Another game that we enjoy is Fundominoes (toddler version of dominoes)... great great game if you're looking for something. And just recently we taught Nora how to play 'Crazy 8's', and she just loves it! We play a modified version with a few of the basic rules. Her favourite rule is getting the 'Jack' (in our version, using a Jack makes the next player skip a turn). So when Nora gets the Jack, there's no hiding it... she has a sneaky grin on her face, she's giggling and just bouncing when she gets to play the card... so fun... we'll have to work on her poker face :)

So, it's pretty fun getting re-acquainted with all these games that we haven't played in a long time... and now experiencing it with the kids. Good times.
